Biography

BAFTA nominee Jason Gilkison has become one of the most sought after and highly respected Choreographers and Creative Directors around today, with his work being seen around the world on stage and screen.

He is probably known best for his work as a Judge and Choreographer on the hugely successful TV series ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ both in Australia and the USA. Jason also worked on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the USA with his opening routine for the 2010 Grand Finale being viewed live by over 24 Million viewers.

For the last 4 years Jason has held the position of Creative Director of Choreography for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. He has been nominated for two BAFTA Awards for his work.

His role has seen him choreograph for artists including Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Andrea Bocelli, Will Young, Take That, Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett and many more.

Jason along with his dance partner Peta Roby created one of the most successful dance partnerships Australia has ever seen by becoming the undefeated Australian Champions from 1981 – 1997. During this time they also took the converted titles of World, British and International Champions this making them one of the most successful and respected Ballroom couples in the industry.

In 2001 Jason accepted the coveted role of Choreographer and Artistic Director for the Ballroom and Latin Dance spectacular ‘Burn the Floor’. His vision and creativity led to several successful world tours, visiting more than 40 countries. With the success of the show, in 2009 ‘Burn the Floor’ transferred firstly to the Longacre Theatre on Broadway where it broke its box office record twice, and then onto the Shaftsbury Theatre in London’s West End were it played a successful summer season.

Jason was also the choreographer for ‘Dame Edna’s ‘Back With a Vengeance’ tour for Broadway, USA & Australia.

Jason is currently working on new projects.
